Happy New Years and welcome back! We’ll be in Ackerman Viewpoint Conference rooms (A-level) this week for Bible Study at the regular time, 7pm.

Next week we won’t have our regular bible studies. In place of that, we’ll be going to a talk by Ravi Zacharias called “Need God? What if I don’t?”. If you’re interested in going, send us an email at bruins@lifecf.net.

Friday Bible Study

On Fri (11/14) we’ll be having a joint bible study with the LCF Grad group. Same time as usual, 7pm, in the Ackerman Viewpoint Conference Room on A-level (right next to Campus Cuts).

We’re going mini-golfing after Bible study tonight, so bring $5, and we might be able to putt amongst free-roaming rabbits on the course.

Bible study back again next week

With our Fall retreat this weekend, we won’t be having Bible study this Fri (10/31). We’ll be meeting up at Sproul Turnaround at 8pm and taking off from there.

Next week Fri (11/7) we’ll be back to our regular room, Ackerman 2408 at 7pm, picking back up Bible study in the Gospel of Mark.

Finding Calcutta

Couple of weeks back, Professor Mary Poplin from Claremont Gradute University came and spoke at Life Baptist Church. In Finding Calcutta she shares more of her experiences seeking out Christ, being a christian in a university setting and the reflections she took away from spending time with Mother Teresa. Definitely worth checking out.

Fall Retreat

Feeling a little overwhelmed with school? Take the weekend off and get refreshed with God’s word. LCF is joining Life Baptist Church for their annual Fall Retreat from October 31 to November 2 at THE OAKS Camp and Conference Center in Lake Hughes.

We have the privilege of having Pastor Don Overstreet leading the retreat. Having planted many churches in the area, Pastor Don has a wealth of experience and testimony in his walk with God.

This week we’re taking a trip out to Griffith Park Observatory where we’re sure to spot some great views of the city and the night sky (really the LA city smog is not that bad). We’ll have pick ups at Sproul Turnaround at 6:30pm.

Next week, Fri 10/24, we’ll be back to our regular bible studies.

1st Bible study of Fall quarter

What’s good news to you? What’s the best news you had in your life so far?

Those were some of the questions we talked about in Bible study today. As we got started in our bible studies in the Gospel of Mark, we’re finding out more about the beginning God wants to start in our lives and what that has to do with the enduring good news of Christ. James, one of the directors of our LCF undergrad group, encouraged us to put in the same serious effort that we put into our studies to studying the Bible– that is engaging our minds and hearts, and asking questions.

Afterwards, we joined up with the grad group for games. Some left newly minted champions of “the couch” game, and we all left knowing a little bit more about each other after racing to find unusual facts in common in our teams.
