Christianity and the Toothfairy – 7:30pm, Wed April 6, UCLA campus

Happy New Year! Bible Studies resume this Friday! (1/7/11)

Happy New Year! We’ll resume our Bible Studies this Friday at 8pm in Kerckhoff 133 (same time and location as last quarter). For the next several quarters, we’ll be continuing our Bible Study of the Gospel of Mark. Stay tuned! (We’ll also be meeting for dinner at 7pm this Friday by the tables near Panda Express before Bible Study starts)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We won’t have a grad Bible study this Friday (11/26) since so many people are home for Thanksgiving.  We’ll resume the following Friday (12/3) at our usual place and time (Kerckhoff 133 at 8pm).  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Here’s a nice skit about focusing on the Giver instead of the gift.

Bible Study this Friday: “Our Thinking Needs Integration”

The topic for this week (11/12) is “Our Thinking Needs Integration”

Fall Retreat! Oct 8 – Oct 10

Our LCF Grad group will be attending Life Baptist Church’s Fall Retreat at The Oaks Retreat Center from evening of Friday, Oct. 8 to Sunday, Oct. 10. We are so fortunate to  have Pastor Don Overstreet as our retreat speaker again this year. He has spoken at our church retreat for the last 2 years in a row and God has truly spoken powerfully through him each time! Through his preaching of God’s Word at last year’s retreat, I realized what an amazing joy and privilege it is to call Jesus my personal Lord and Savior. If you have any additional questions or would like to sign up to go, please let me know (timdong@ucla.edu)!  It will surely be a weekend well spent!

Here is a short bio on Pastor Don (of course, it is better if you meet him in person!)

Pastor Don Overstreet has been involved in church planting for forty years in the United States and abroad. He is a church planter strategist with the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in Southern California and an adjunct professor at Golden Gate Baptist Seminary.   He was the first Baptist missionary with the International Mission Board to the island of St. Vincent on 1977.  He started a church out of a prison ministry and led many people to the Lord.  Today there are eight churches on the island all pastored by nationals. Many of the pastors were led to the Lord by Don when they were teenagers. The churches make up the St. Vincent Baptist Convention.

Book Review: How to Give Away Your Faith

Title: How to Give Away Your Faith
Author: Paul Little

I read this book this past summer as one of the summer “SBI” (Summer Bible Institute) classes that our church was offering. I found the book very helpful.  It had been sitting on my bookshelf for over 5 years, and finally this class gave me the much-needed motivation to sit down and read it over the course of 6 weeks.   Here are some of the lessons I learned from this class (and this book).   Continue reading ‘Book Review: How to Give Away Your Faith’

This Grad Life

We each spend most of the day doing research on our own thing, so we thought it would be neat to hear about each other’s research after bible study.  “A day in the life of a grad student…”  This past quarter we learned about antibiotics, a balance vest to treat people with balance disorders (featured in the Daily Bruin!), fruit fly brains, and the difference between digital/analog circuits.  We’re not done yet, so stay tuned for upcoming episodes of “This Grad Life”!

  • Welcome to Life Christian Fellowship Grad, an on-campus Christian fellowship for graduate students at UCLA. We hold regular Friday night Bible studies at UCLA and we're also connected with Life Baptist Church (very closeby to UCLA campus). If you'd like to get involved or would like more information, please contact Tim at timdong@ucla.edu or 626-233-6450.
