The topic for this week (11/19) is “Purposelessness.”
We are meeting at the usual place and time for dinner and Bible study this Friday.
The topic for this week (10/22) is “The Desire for Inner Peace.”
See you all there!
Here’s a powerful message by Pastor John Piper. He challenges us to examine ourselves to see whether or not we are wasting our lives and further points us to the Scripture to show what that unwasted life looks like.
Praise God for the great retreat we were able to experience this past weekend!!! God is working and stirring many of our hearts. We pray that we will not do anything to stifle the work of the Holy Spirit and let him complete what he needs to do in each of us.
We are resuming our regular Bible Study starting this week and will be continuing until the end of the quarter. Anybody is always welcome to join us even if this is your first time.
This quarter, in our new Bible study series, “Our True Need,” we’ll be focusing on a different topic each week, including “Loneliness,” ”Inner Emptiness,” “Purposelessness.”
The topic for this week (10/15) is “Fear of Death.”
Dinner provided: 7pm at Ackerman A level in the food court, near Panda Express
Bible Study Location: 8pm in Kerckhoff 133
See you there!
Please note that due to our annual retreat this weekend, we will NOT be meeting for our regular Bible study this Friday.
We will resume our regular study on Friday, October 15.
We WILL still provide rides for Sunday Worship Service at 3:30 pm at the Weyburn Campus Express bus stop.
Pastor Don, our retreat speaker, and his son Pastor Kirk, who led our Worship Night event last week, will be delivering the message.
Contact Tim Dong (timdong@ucla.edu) if you need a ride for worship service.
Our LCF Grad group will be attending Life Baptist Church’s Fall Retreat at The Oaks Retreat Center from evening of Friday, Oct. 8 to Sunday, Oct. 10. We are so fortunate to have Pastor Don Overstreet as our retreat speaker again this year. He has spoken at our church retreat for the last 2 years in a row and God has truly spoken powerfully through him each time! Through his preaching of God’s Word at last year’s retreat, I realized what an amazing joy and privilege it is to call Jesus my personal Lord and Savior. If you have any additional questions or would like to sign up to go, please let me know (timdong@ucla.edu)! It will surely be a weekend well spent!
Here is a short bio on Pastor Don (of course, it is better if you meet him in person!)
Pastor Don Overstreet has been involved in church planting for forty years in the United States and abroad. He is a church planter strategist with the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in Southern California and an adjunct professor at Golden Gate Baptist Seminary. He was the first Baptist missionary with the International Mission Board to the island of St. Vincent on 1977. He started a church out of a prison ministry and led many people to the Lord. Today there are eight churches on the island all pastored by nationals. Many of the pastors were led to the Lord by Don when they were teenagers. The churches make up the St. Vincent Baptist Convention.
On top of the special event on Thursday, we will also have our regular Bible study on Friday.

This quarter, in our new Bible study series, “Our True Need,” we’ll be focusing on a different topic each week, including “Loneliness,” ”Inner Emptiness,” “Purposelessness,” and “Fear of Death.”
