Friday (9/24) – Grad Student Welcome Night, 7pm Ackerman Viewpoint Conference Room. Dinner will be provided and we’ll have our first Bible Study of Fall Quarter.
Saturday (9/25) – Weyburn BBQ, 5pm Weyburn Terrace (at BBQ grill near Jacaranda Court) map Come enjoy tasty Korean BBQ together with us!
Sunday (9/26) – Sunday Worship Service, 4pm Life Baptist Church. Life Baptist Church is located very close-by to UCLA campus (10 min away by car). Pickups are provided from Weyburn Campus Express bus stop at 3:30pm. Please contact Tim at 626-233-6450 or timdong@ucla.edu to confirm ride.
Join us for a picnic at the Getty Center this Saturday!
If you are new to LA, the Getty Center is a must-see. Admission is free and it is only 15 minutes away from campus. Come and enjoy the peaceful gardens, a scenic view of LA, impressive architecture and a great collection of Western art from the middle ages to the modern period.

We each spend most of the day doing research on our own thing, so we thought it would be neat to hear about each other’s research after bible study. “A day in the life of a grad student…” This past quarter we learned about antibiotics, a balance vest to treat people with balance disorders (featured in the
Daily Bruin!), fruit fly brains, and the difference between digital/analog circuits. We’re not done yet, so stay tuned for upcoming episodes of “This Grad Life”!
We got together with the other LCF groups at UCLA and USC at Dockweiler Beach for a great time of roasting hotdogs/smores and singing praise around a roaring campfire!
A few of us joined the 3 day Utah Ski trip organized by Life Baptist Church.
We enjoyed the amazing snow and view.
This Saturday we took a one day trip down to San Diego and had a wonderful time of fellowship. We played ultimate and had picnic by La Jolla Cove, biked (some of us tried riding tandem!), flew kites (from the $1 store), and played beach volleyball on the beach outside Coronado Hotel. Afterwards, we had dinner at
Super Buffet in SD and then began the long trek back. A great evening!

Happy New Year everyone! It is exciting to begin a new year and also a new decade! In the spirit of journeying into something brand new, here is a group picture from our Star Trek skit that we performed recently for our church’s Thanksgiving Fest celebration. The UCLA and USC grad/ISM groups teamed up to perform this skit which explored the meaning of Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
This Winter Quarter, we resume our weekly Friday night bible studies in Kerckhoff 131 at 8pm. We will also be having dinner together beforehand at 7pm in Ackerman near Panda Express. Please come join us!
We had a great time on our LA tour last Saturday (9/27). We went to the Farmer’s Market on Fairfax for lunch, and then visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Mann’s Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater, the stars on the ground). Le Bron James was promoting his new movie that day and we waited a bit for him to arrive, but alas – we went home disappointed (some of us got promotional T-shirts for the movie though!).
