Some photos from ISM spring break trip. First day we toured the Monterey Bay area, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the Carmel Beach, then on to scenic San Francisco. The weather was drizzly the whole time we were there, but it wasn’t enough to dampen our spirits. On the itinerary: the ferry ride into SF, Pier 39, trolley ride, Lombard St., Battery Spencer, Point Bonita Lighthouse (Marin Headlands), Golden Gate Bridge & Treasure Island (and a quick night drive around Simon’s alma mater).

Stephen Hawking comes to USC! Dr. Hawking, one of the most brilliant scientific minds of all time, gave his talk on the implications of the Heisenburg uncertainty principle on the observable and the unobservable (not in our world anyway) events surrounding a black hole.
Interestingly, the final question from the audience during the Q&A was: “Does God exist?” He was careful to phrase his answer: “I believe, in science, there’s no room for God.” — while he did not have a chance to elaborate on his answer, perhaps what he was referring to was this
