Stephen Hawking comes to USC! Dr. Hawking, one of the most brilliant scientific minds of all time, gave his talk on the implications of the Heisenburg uncertainty principle on the observable and the unobservable (not in our world anyway) events surrounding a black hole.
Interestingly, the final question from the audience during the Q&A was: “Does God exist?” He was careful to phrase his answer: “I believe, in science, there’s no room for God.” — while he did not have a chance to elaborate on his answer, perhaps what he was referring to was this

Stephen Hawking is one of the 16 honored with Medal of Freedom by President Obama, for making complex scientific concepts accessible to the layman, including penning the best-selling book “A Brief History of Time” and its updated version, “A Briefer History of Time.” (- CNN.com 8/12/09)
